Role: Experienced Bartender/Supervisor


Job Description:

The Bartender/Supervisor is responsible for restaurant operations and is the most senior person on staff during their shifts. Ideal candidates are highly self-motivated, have fine attention to detail, demonstrate a proactive approach, and take full ownership of the job, driving for success and achieving results.


You are an experienced bartender! You can confidently navigate between the busy bar (Good Time Charley’s is one of the busiest college bars in Ann Arbor!) and keeping an eye on the restaurant and your team’s needs. You’ll be responsible for a team of up to 20 people, removing  obstacles in an effort to maximize productivity and to ensure your guests have a wonderful experience, leaving happy and satisfied.




  • Lead a team of front of the house employees (including Servers, Hosts, Food Runners, Bartenders, Bar backs, Bussers, Door) in a dynamic, seasonal, high volume restaurant
  • Follow vision and policies of the restaurant and act as a face of the business
  • Model business culture and lead by example
  • Cleanliness: present the restaurant in the best possible way to customers by directing staff to keep the space clean, and facilitating successful health inspections
  • Accountable for results: maximize productivity by removing obstacles, increasing efficiency and supporting workflow
  • Supervise kitchen staff to ensure premium quality; liaison between front and back of house
  • Interact with customers and provide excellent customer service; respectfully resolve all customer concerns
  • Positively influence communication; resolve any conflicts between staff
  • Assess complicated and unique situations and make the right decisions
  • Accommodate fluctuations in demand
  • Motivate and promote constant teamwork
  • Play an integral role in the ongoing training of new employees to ensure precision
  • Pay certain vendors/outside contractors
  • Delegate tasks to team, ensure proper protocols are followed and tasks are completed (e.g. server checklists)


  • Brings integrity and consistency to service delivery approach and models organization’s values
  • Self-motivated and never shy to take initiative
  • Memorizes daily food and drink specials as well as customer favorites, and regulars’ preferences
  • Must have an exceptional work ethic and the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Has intimate knowledge of full drink menu
  • Ability to make cocktails, learns an extensive menu
  • Uses excellent customer service and displays friendliness throughout the course of your shift in person and on the phone
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by leveraging effective communication skills; builds long-term relationships
  • Completes side work with professionalism and commitment to quality
  • Is organized and timely with presenting reports
  • Presents spaces at their best with a strong commitment to cleanliness
  • Is responsible about intervening on excessive consumption; able to prioritize safety above revenue potential when needed
  • Brings a positive attitude every shift and treats everyone (clients and colleagues alike) with respect
  • Maintains composure, remains calm and patient despite dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Brings A-game to every shift; serves guests with a calm sense of urgency
  • Performs opening and closing duties with timeliness, thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Set up team for success; ensure bar and supplies are stocked for next shift
  • Displays infectious energy and initiative – brings the hustle


Need to know:

Nights and weekend availability is a must!

Must be available for ALL University of Michigan football home games

You may be asked to lift up to 20 lbs throughout a shift

You need to have basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

Experience needed:

Three to five years experience bartending in a high volume, full-service restaurant/bar who is used to constant business
